When it comes to buying Equine Supplies and Rider Apparel, often the best quality products for the best value are the most in demand. These products gain many loyal customers that will buy and utilise them time and time again for years on end. I have a few brands of products that I have been loyal to for years because of their outstanding quality and value, and I would like to share them with you all.
Saxon Synthetic Rugs: When I used to use synthetic rugs during Winter, I found Saxon Combos to be of equal quality to Weatherbeeta, and a little bit cheaper. These rugs are long lasting provided that you don’t have a horse that is a ‘rug wrecker’.
Eurohunter Rugs: I find that this brand of Cotton Combo and Standard Canvas, is the only brand that fits my Thoroughbred’s high wither and shoulder shape. They can a little on the expensive side, but I find that the quality in the rug fabrics make them last longer than most.
Collegiate Bridle: My good show bridle is a black leather Collegiate that I have had for 10 years or so, and it is still in good nick. My Pop (Saddler) was quite impressed with the quality of leather used, and the stitch work that holds it together. For a mid range bridle as far as price goes, they are well worth it!
Roma Saddlecloths: These saddlecloths are great for using at home for exercising, or even as a second saddlecloth underneath small saddlecloths. My old Pony Club Saddlecloth used to be quite small on my Thoroughbreds, so my maroon Roma got quite a bit of use and time through the washing machine between horse events. I still have a few cracking today that I would have had for a decade, and they are quite affordable to buy, with an array of colours to choose from.
Joseph Lyddys Saddle Soap: This stuff is truly amazing for cleaning all leather tack, and maintaining it’s condition. I have spent so many hours applying this to get that winning shine on my tack for comps. Little goes a long way, and the tins are a reasonable price.
Baxter Riding Boots: I have been wearing Baxters to ride in since what feels like forever. They are amazing quality, comfortable and so durable! I have got 5+ years out of one pair!
Ariat Work Boots: I like to wear Ariat H20 Terrain Zip Boots for working at a Horse Stud. They are super comfy, supportive, waterproof and look quite professional too. These can be a little on the pricey side, but they are well worth it for the amount of years of hard yakka you can get out of them.
Bogs Gumboots: I have never owned a better pair of gumboots! I practically live in my Bogs during Winter at work, because they are so comfortable and reliable for wet conditions. The neoprene tops make them quite flexible to get into, and the handles at the top make them easy to carry.
Dublin Helmets: I have had a Dublin Helmet ever since I began riding! They are reasonable in price, and are a popular go to for an allround helmet. I have had a few busters where I’ve fallen on my head over the years, and my Dublin Helmets have always done their job.
Windsor Riding Apparel Jodphurs: As far as beige Sticky Bum Joddies for Pony Club; this brand is amazing! They can be used week after week for events and be still as comfy and as good looking as the first time. An added bonus as far as joddies go; they are quite cheap to buy.
I am sure you all have favourite brands and products that you use to make up your Equine Supplies and Riding Apparel too. Being loyal to anything can be quite rare these days when sometimes the best prices are needed to make ends meet. However I think it is important to try when we can to stick with our favs that work for us, and have been good to us for so long. Feel free to try any of my favourites (if you haven’t already), if you are looking for new products to love.
