The next addition to Living Equine’s Equestrian Profiles, is young go- getter, Miss Miah Currie.

EQUESTRIAN QUICK TEN
1) What made you fall in love with horses?
With Rollie it was love at first sight, being my first ‘bought’ horse I couldn’t of asked for better. He is such a legend and if you give him 100% he’ll give you 110. He’s been my first horse that I could ‘chill’ on and focus on winning not just surviving the round😬 He can do any discipline and because of that versatility I’ve tried so many things in a short period of time.

My new 4yr Off The Track chestnut mare (yes does sound bad), Hallie; I’ve grown to love her and all of her sassy-ness. Yes she may be a b**** most days but once your into the work she tries so so so hard for you. She’s totally allergic to rails and has insane scope, let alone she learnt how to half pass in 3 dressage lessons!! She’s the biggest handful I’ve had to deal with yet but you deal with her s*** because of her talent, and then even through that she gives you her heart💗

2) How long have you been riding for?
I sat on a horse with Mum when I came home from the hospital, and I started Pony Club at 4ish.

3) Have you done any Tertiary Education in horses?
 No not yet.

4) Have you broken any horses in yourself?
I started to break in a ASHx filly 3 years back, but she sadly died of cancer. But I currently have an OTT that I’m re-training. I’m also riding other people’s horses that have just come back from the breakers.

5) What are your greatest Equine Achievements?
Multiple State and National Championships on Rollie.
State Mounted Games win on a pony of mine.
Just being able to ride a horse like Hallie!!
Training with Olympians

6) What has been your deepest Equine low?
Last year wasn’t the best, Rollie unfortunately became ill with Stringhalt, flipped over on myself (neither of us hurt too bad). With him being out I rode the ponies more went to State Games , and did really well, then got bucked off and dislocated my shoulder. Things getting better again just got a new horse, then Hallie ran through a fence, so 3 months out for her. On top of that the financial pressures from the drought, and some close family/friend tragedies made those few months hard.

7) What jobs have you been able to work with horses so far?
I’ve been able to work and ride horses from Welsh Ponies, Gypsy Cobs, Stockies, Thoroughbred, Warmbloods and everything in between. I’ve worked at clinics when I haven’t been able to ride. Soon I’m going to go and help out on a Thoroughbred Stud (whilst riding her Warmbloods😁). I’m not at an age where I can work with horses as such just turning 15 but the little experiences are great.

8) What are your current Equine ambitions?
I want to ride for Australia, ride in the Longines Masters (Showjumping), but just being the best I can be not only with Showjumping, but as a horse person. Hopefully once I’m at that level, I want to help the riders that aren’t financially able to get the amazing horses up there a bit easier; not having to try to get connections through people like myself.

9) What is your favourite movie?
I love War Horse. But GOT is the besstttt it’s a series but whatever 😂.

10) Favourite accessory?
I love my Emcee Riding Apparel clothing, Hallie’s WTP bit and Hawkesbury Saddlery and Co Stud Girth.

Living Equine thanks Miah very much for taking the time to be profiled, and wish her all the best with her future equine endeavours!
