Over Living Equine’s 2nd year we’ve featured Equestrians Profiles of various equestrians from various disciplines, of different ages, genders and backgrounds. As part of our 2nd Birthday Celebrations I thought I would find out what some of these equestrians are up to with their horses currently.
Our first Equestrian Profile was Miss Taela McLean, who has been doing lots of trail riding of late, and competing in gymkhanas when she can. Young gun, Dallas Birt, has been quite busy lately, training and breaking young ones, doing some farrier work, and competing mostly in endurance. Well- traveled horseman, Glen Denholm is now semi retired, and concentrating on making stock whips at home, with the company of two of his treasured mares.
Triple threat, Bonnie Martin, has been coaching and preparing her performance horses for a run of shows for the second half of the year. Shining star, Rochelle King-Andrews has faced some huge changes with her fellow KEA Training Stables trainer, Greg Andrews in 2019. They have hit the Clinic Tour, flying out most weekends to Queensland, New Zealand, Tamworth and South Australia to give clinics in dressage with Rochelle, and in basic dressage and good horse sense with Greg.
Miss Maddy Branks went to Coonabarabran recently for Tricky’s first outing, placing 3rd overall in the 45 cm! She is hoping to go to Tamworth next month just competing Tricky at a low level until he gains more confidence in himself, as he can be a little spooky. He has the ability, but loves to have a look when he is out and about until he gets used to things.
It is clear to see that everyone’s horse stories evolve in their own ways, and it is great to have such a diverse range of directions that equestrians can go within one overall area. I hope you all continue to pursue your equine endeavours with happiness and success.
