After listening to Fleetwood Mac songs on the lead up to their concert last week, and then seeing their song ‘Rhiannon’ played live, I did some research into the meaning behind this enchanting song. Stevie Nicks wrote ‘Rhiannon’ without knowing of the existence of the mythological Welsh Goddess of Horses and Birds, but when she discovered her, realised just how fitting her story was to the lyrics she wrote.
There are many Godesses of Horses that have believed to have existed in various religious, however Rhiannon has particularly intrigued and inspired me to create the Celtic Horse Art above. I think particularly horse women can relate to her fierce love and protection of horses.
