I’ll be honest; ‘Friesian Photoshoot’ was going to be the last Nag’s Natter Blog for 2019. I was doing housework, and realised some things that needed to be said. Most the people I have spoken to lately about the year they have had, have agreed this year has hands down been one of their worst yet. Now I am not trying to write a downer blog for sympathy or anything, and there is no doubt that there have many highlights this year too; just let’s get real.
2019 has seen some of the worst bushfire conditions and ongoing drought conditions this country has ever seen, and the end is not close yet. Many people whether effected by the fires and drought or not, have had terrible runs family, household, employment and health wise in particular this year, and I just want to say that I hear you. Your struggles, sacrifrices, pain and crying & laughing your way through are all real and validated!
Majority of community spirit is overwhelmingly positive and supportive with so many fundraisers and initiatives in place to help those in need being heavily backed by what ever money people can scratch. But it isn’t just the money support, it is the voluntary assistance, social media support, and loud conversations happening country wide that is helping people with so many aspects of their lives on their heads! If you consider yourself to be someone helping others in need, then thank you, thank you, thank you!
I definitely feel a shift building for 2020; and I really hope some really great evolutions are about to be a reality for so many people who have been holding on by a thread. Of course we need oodles of consistent rain to break the drought and put out these mega fires, but if aspect by aspect people’s lives can be met with the reward of their hard work and sheer courage, that would truly make 2020 a magic start to a new decade!
