Setting Goals & Being Accountable ©

At the moment it can be quite easy to feel overwhelmed with a lack of motivation to achieve any goals we set ourselves, because there doesn’t appear to be a clear end to restrictions in sight yet. However there are still so many goals that can be set and achieved perhaps towards grander goals once restrictions ease.

Goals are created from deep desire or deep ambition to achieve them, and then reap everything that comes with achieving them. It is often the ripple effects that happen after achieving goals, that start to cause an overall transformation, and THAT becomes the driving force for commitment and conviction to make goals possible!

Whether it be a personal goal, an equestrian goal or a business goal, there are many small goals that are still possible on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, that may contribute to those yearly or multiple year grand goals. For example, a grand goal of competing at Grand Prix level in Dressage, starts with many small goals in a training plan for the horse and rider to complete, over at least a year or two, before this is possible. Without going through the process, and achieving each of those small goals along the way, the quality of the performance at Grand Prix level can not be as remarkable as those that have done the hard yards and trained for 5 to 6 days/week for perhaps 2 years.

The same applies in business. We realistically can’t all be viral superstars overnight in the online world, or be making thousands of dollars at the snap of our fingers if we have not got our messaging across correctly to our market. It takes a minimum of 3 months to assess a marketing campaign’s success, and it often takes new businesses at least 18 months to gain traction, so it takes truly driven people to trust the process to break grand goals into smaller goals, and smash them one by one.

Whether you are a pen and paper person in a diary, or a notes and calendar person on an electronic device, brainstorming goals, and then setting deadlines for those goals on a calendar makes them measurable, and makes you accountable to achieve them. Challenging yourself, but being realistic towards your available time, energy and resources is a good way to set yourself up for goal smashing. Grand goals that make these smaller goals worthwhile achieving, can even be added to vision boards, or written in large letters and pinned on fridges or noticeboards where you will see it frequently, and keep you motivated. But it is the transformation that comes with acheiving these goals that happens to YOU, that will make you truly keep going until they are a reality. Complete changes to lifestyles, living arrangements, work/life balance, time freedom, and financial freedom, these are all common transformations that resonate with goal setters so deeply, that they get up early, they work late if need be, they will get outside their comfort zones, and they will commit 100% to making their dream realities possible.

Set yourself a grand goal, break that down into smaller goals, schedule it into your diary, and start step by step making your dream transformation possible!
