Equestrian Profile – Bonnie Martin ©

The next addition to Living Equine’s Equestrian Profiles, is triple threat, Bonnie Martin.

EQUESTRIAN QUICK TEN
1) What made you fall in love with horses?
I’m really not sure what first caught my attention but I am sure their power, beauty and that unique horsey smell had something to do with it.

2) How long have you been riding for?
I’ve been riding since I was around 8 and I got my first pony when I was 10.

3) Have you done any Tertiary Education in horses?
I haven’t done any tertiary education in horses, I have two degrees, one in Business and the other a Master of International Business. I have my Level 1 coaching accreditation as well.

4) Have you broken any horses in yourself?
I have not – that’s not my strong suit and I like knowing they are started properly as I think this pays dividends down the road.

5) What are your greatest Equine Achievements?
I think anyones greatest achievement in riding is to not give up. Sometimes it may seem like everything is against you and you just have to pick yourself up and get back on.

6) What has been your deepest Equine low?
My deepest equine low is seeing horses that have given you wings, freedom and so much joy sustain injuries. Unfortunately there are many along the road, big and small and it just breaks my heart.

7) What jobs have you been able to work with horses so far?
I guess teaching, breeding and looking after the agistment here at River Ridge Equestrian Park are the parts of equestrianism that actually return some money into the account!

8) What are your current Equine ambitions?
I’d like to get back in the ‘main ring’ at the major Showjumping competitions. I have a couple of younger horses on the team and developing them as well as working and being a Mum can be a bit of a challenge.

9) What is your favourite movie?
I could never pick just one movie – there are just too many

10) Favourite accessory?
My favourite horsey accessory at the moment would have to be my DeNiro boots. I just love them and can’t wait to order my next pair. I do have to say that I also love my clippers and I’m not sure if a HorseGym can be called an accessory but my life wouldn’t work without it.

Living Equine thanks Bonnie very much for taking the time to be profiled, and wish her all the best with her future equine endeavours!
