Just to address the elephant in the room, Coronavirus is sure making quite an impact on the events that we have available to us to compete in the coming months, and the supplies at the grocery store we can buy. As of today, the 16th March 2020, the Australian Government is placing a restriction in place of no mass gatherings of people larger than 500 people, except for in shopping centres and the like. Now this may put a dampner on the events you will attend in the next few months, and you may still choose to attend some small events with your local clubs, however I think it is important to remember that this not just about us as individuals, this is about trying to reduce the spread of Coronavirus for those particularly at risk. There will be more events once this all passes, and annual events will happen again next year.
Whilst mainly staying at home or at your agistment place whilst spending time with our horses over the next few months, perhaps we can really focus on what we can do there. This presents itself as a great opportunity to do some training in a few areas we have been trying to gain improvement on. There has been no proven evidence to suggest that horses can contract or aid in the spread of COV-19, so why not use this time to our advantage!?
Please stay vigilant with your hand hygiene, and if you are sick, stay home from school and work, or re schedule that appointment. We can all get through the next few months, and our Equine Companions are going to help us get there.
