Being able to see a horse for more than a large four – legged mammal is one thing; loving them for being your trusty steed is another; but being able to tune into their spirit and create a bond is the epiphany of pure magic.
Each horse has this magnetism about them. Each field is unique; shines differently. When a horse’s magnetism goes from being something that you observe, to something that you can feel and then in turn work with for the very first time; …there’s simply nothing more breathtakingly beautiful.
Bonds between horse and human don’t always come easy, with horses having a natural and instinctual sense of fear towards man/woman, sometimes the fear being mutual or from the human alone. However, once a solid and two way connection has been established, it is up to the individual horseman/woman and horse to maintain their end of the bond (so to speak). An individual or a horse alone cannot maintain a “broken horse” alone; it takes a mutual and strong mechanism of trust and respect (just like any relationship).
Once the bond has been established and maintained, friendships begin to blossom. Within any healthy friendship there is a mutual appreciation and admiration for each other (generally). In some there is an element of inspiration where either one or both fuel the ambitions, hopes and desires of the other. Sometimes these friendships become soul mate like, or destiny written, and the same dream/s are shared by both horse and human. This is seen in combinations as small as childhood ponies and talented young kids; to Olympic Champions and their elite rider.
One of the unspoken keys to a horse/human bond or any friendship that feels it was “written in the stars”, is understanding and appreciating what each other is about and what motivates/deflates each other. Realising when is a good time to push each other or not, can truly be key in progress towards a mutual goal. It doesn’t only have to be known when to push, but also how. Knowing the exact methods that motivate and deflate each other makes for a truly effective mechanism in success.
Anyone can suggest that it’s just a four- legged animal sitting in the paddock at your residence or leased land, but only those bedazzled by what comes within a horse’s spirit, know how much is gained from being one with an Equine companion.
